Here we go!

So, why "Peregrinations?"

Well, the last definition above is what I anticipate here. I expect I'll ramble over a wide range of topics as I place my thoughts in cyber-space. But more than that, this blog will be a journal--a log of my particular journey. As I wander this privileged planet*, I'll share on these pages some of the wonder that it--and its creatures--invoke in me.

I hope my peregrinations will resonate with you, challenge or stretch you perhaps, or cause you to pause for contemplation in your own sojourn. Bit by bit, you'll learn more about me (scary thought!), who I am, what I believe, how I think.

For now, let me share just one thing about myself (one that further explains the title I chose for this blog)... By training and experience, I'm a raptor ecologist--I study birds of prey. Many of my travels, then, have been associated with seeing, studying, or sharing an interest in, hawks, eagles, falcons, and owls. Thus I believe it apt that the title of my electronic journal bring to mind that quintessential wanderer, the Peregrine Falcon.

I'd consider it an honor to have you wander--and wonder--with me.

*More about this privileged planet at a later date. What I do not mean to imply is that it is privileged in that I wander it.
